When we live a monotonous life, this decreases our productivity and happiness levels in ways that can be intoxicating for the soul.
How?
- It promotes boredom and when the brain is bored, it results in a fixed mindset.
- Having a fixed mindset increases the ability to be stuck in old habits.
Luckily, we don’t have to live a monotonous life. By rearranging old habits that don’t serve our growth and changing our scenery from time to time, we can then improve the neuroplasticity of our brains. In this read, I will be going over:
- What is Neuroplasticity?
- Why improving Neuroplasticity is important.
- Why a change of scenery can improve the Neuroplasticity of our brains.
what is neuroplasticity?
When we change our scenery by traveling to new places, trying new things, we improve the neuroplasticity of our brains. Neuroplasticity is when the brain renews itself by repairing old neural connections and regenerating new ones. When this happens, we’re able to learn new things with ease, remember details, and quickly recover from brain injuries.
why improving neuroplasticity is important:
It is important to improve neuroplasticity because it gives the ability to rewire the brain, which is essential for growth. It creates room for crazy, innovative thinking which plays a role in improving the lives of others throughout the world. Being able to learn new things, replacing old and unhealthy habits, with new and healthy ones, nourishes our mind and keeps it youthful (beginner’s mindset).
why a change of scenery can improve the neuroplasticity of our brains:
It eliminates bad habits and introduces new and healthy ones.
New sceneries / novel activities enhances the part of your brain that is responsible for learning and memory; hippocampus.
Some examples to change our sceneries:
- Introduce new activities into your life, even if they’re uncomfortable at first.
- Take a visit to mother nature.
- Go to a new place to do some work.
- Change your environment in a way that’s inaccessible to old habits.
